
5 DAYS NORTHERN MALAWI
This safari leaves either from Nkhata Bay or Mzuzu. It covers the most interesting places of Malawi's northern region. Nyika National Park, this wild untouched, sometimes mist-covered place is the only Afromontane big game park in South-Central Africa. It offers the chance of some rare and exciting sightings of both animals and birdlife. In contrast to Nyika's unique mountains plateau, Vwaza Wildlife Reserve consists of low-lying plains with woodland among its marshy areas. You also get some time to spend at the historic Livingstonia.
ITINERARY
DAY 1 - VWAZA GAME RESERVE
Leave in the morning stopping in Mzuzu to visit a local market. Arrive in Vwaza in time for lunch. Later in the afternoon go for a game drive along Lake Kazuni. Vwaza is famous for elephants and hippos, other commonly seen game include antelopes - kudu, impala, puku, roan. Buffalo, warthog, velvet monkeys, yellow baboons. Dinner at the Kazuni camp.
DAY 2 - NYIKA NATIONAL PARK
After an optional game walk accompanied by a game ranger, breakfast follows after whch we leave for Nyika national park, picnic lunch on route. Arrive Nyika in the afternoon. After unwinding from the journey go for an afternoon game drive. Game in Nyika include antelope: eland, roan, duiker, reedbuck, bushbuck, other mammals are zebra, warthog,spotted hyena, side-striped jackal. Leorpard sightings are fair. Elephants keep to the lower edges of the park. Dinner at the camp.
DAY 3 - NYIKA NATIONAL PARK
Whole day in Nyika with an optional game walk or drive in the morning. Afternoon game drive follows. Night drives are offered and mountain biking by the camp at a fee.
DAY 4 - LIVINGSTONIA PLATEAU
Depart in the morning after breakfast to Livingstonia, Lukwe Eco camp or Mushroom farm. Later in the afternoon pay a visit to Mantchewe water fall and the cave where Phoka people used to hide during slavery days.
DAY 5 - END OF SAFARI
After breakfast visit Livingstonia town - pay a visit to the museum inside the stone house where Dr Robert Laws one of the Scottish missionaries used to live. Visit the church and the mission hospital. After that drive back to Nkhata Bay and drop you off at the place of your choice within town.
